Marie Saylor, MSN, RN, NEA-BC
CEO
Marie Saylor currently serves as Chief Executive Officer for Landmark Hospital of Athens. She joined Landmark in 2011, where she began her nursing career. In 2015, she was promoted to Chief Clinical Officer, leading the clinical staff in providing optimal care and exceptional patient outcomes. In 2018, she was promoted to CEO, and her extensive background in the medical field is instrumental in operations and leadership development.
Her goal as CEO is to be the hospital of choice for patients, physicians, and employees. Her team is devoted to continuous improvement, excellence, professionalism, and innovation. Evidence-based practice is used to deliver the highest quality care to our patients and families and strive to support the well-being of our communities.
Marie is an honors graduate from Chamberlain College of Nursing, earning both a BSN and MSN. She is a Pennsylvania native who relocated to Colbert, Georgia, in 2011, where she resides with her three children.
David McCurley
Director of Plant Operations
David has been with Landmark since 2022 and is HVAC certified. He leads our Environmental Services department and is our EOC Safety Officer. He has a strong background in vital hospital infrastructure systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, fire suppression, and biomedical hospital equipment, ensuring we meet standards and quality requirements.
He and his family currently reside in Colbert, Georgia.
Michael Edge, RRT, LRT
Respiratory Therapy Manager
Michael is a recent addition to the Athens Leadership team. He is a Registered Respiratory Therapist from the Cardiovascular Surgical / Transplant ICU at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. In addition to his clinical experience, he also served in a management capacity as the Lead Respiratory Therapist. His educational journey includes a degree in Respiratory Therapy from the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences and an undergraduate degree from Clemson University.
He and his wife recently had their first child and reside in Athens, Georgia.
Tiffany Mathews, LPN
Quality Risk Manager
Tiffany recently joined the Athens Leadership team. She has 10 years of experience working in home health care, with five years specializing in compliance and quality risk management as a nurse. She is working to obtain a degree from Western Governor’s University, specializing in Health and Human Services.
She is newly married with two dogs and just purchased her first home.
Christopher King, RN, BSN
Chief Clinical Officer
Chris joined Landmark in 2022. He is a military veteran who served in the Navy. After the military, he volunteered in oncology at a children’s hospital, inspiring him to become a nurse. He began his nursing career in pediatric oncology and then transitioned into critical care and pediatric ICU. From there, he became a charge nurse and was promoted into management, serving as Director of Nursing and Operations for several clinics and surgery centers for a specialty group.
Chris’s philosophy in nursing is caring for patients through compassion and empathy. He currently resides in Winder, Georgia, with his wife and kids.
Kathy Marquess, PT
Rehab Director
Kathy M. has been a passionate physical therapist for 38 years, working across various settings but finding a special calling in geriatric care. She takes immense pride in helping patients regain mobility and independence, making their journey back home as smooth as possible. As part of the incredible team at Landmark, she cherishes the opportunity to make a meaningful daily impact.
A longtime resident of Hoschton, Kathy and her husband, Stephen, share a vibrant home filled with love, laughter, and a few furry companions—Bella, their beloved rescue pup, and two mischievous rescue cats, Otis and KiKi.
Kathy’s greatest joy comes from watching her four children grow and thrive. A college student and aspiring nurse, Leah has worked alongside Kathy at Landmark as a patient care and monitor tech.
